Astrophysicists and NASA experts agree that a large asteroid (1999 RQ36) that is over 2 football fields wide may crash to Earth on September 24, 2182. The scientists put the odds of the occurrence at one in one thousand. If the asteroid were to hit Earth it would be likely to cause widespread devastation and possible mass extinction.
If the asteroid impact doesn’t cause mass destruction there is also another potential hidden threat. There potentially could be stowaway bacteria or viruses that are alien to Earth that could cause a pandemic. Scientists say that the outcome of introducing an alien virus would be much more unpredictable.
