TMW: I understand you began showing signs of wanting to perform at a young age.
KC: Yes, it all started when I was six years old. I did a modeling show and was then offered a chance to be on television. I ended up on “The Kinderman Show,” which aired on WMAR channel 2 in Baltimore, and got to sing along with Kinderman.
TMW: Tell me a little bit about your work in the theatre.
KC: Sure. I auditioned for a lot of plays in middle school, then took up a drama class and joined the Arena Players in Baltimore. After doing various plays around the area, I got the chance to go to Europe and perform there. I got to visit a few countries too . . . including Iceland, Amsterdam, France, Belgium, and Germany.
TMW: You were quite the traveler.
KC: Yeah. The best part was being able to be exposed to new cultures almost every week. I was also the youngest in my theatre group at the time and really felt I belonged to the stage.
TMW: How about school? Studying must have been a challenge.
KC: (Laughs) To say the least. I actually took a break from acting in high school to focus more on getting my diploma. Then I attended the Community College of Baltimore County and took acting classes under Carl Frendel.
TMW: You actually landed your first film role while at CBCC, is that correct?
KC: I did. A friend from class called me with an opportunity to be in the independent film Sleeping With Fate. I played a careless and menacing drug dealer by the name of Tay.
TMW: Since then you've been in a number of indie films. What are some of your more recent roles?
KC: I play a Harvard law student in The Social Network.
TMW: Very cool! Did you get to meet David Fincher?
KC: No, but at least I can say I starred in one of his movies.
TMW: True. Now, aren't you're also in a film that got picked up for distribution?
KC: Yes. That one's called Razorblade City, where I get to play a money hungry hustler by the name of Phil. It was picked up by Maverick Entertainment and will be in stores sometime in December. It comes out right before the holidays and makes a great stocking stuffer.
TMW: I'll keep that in mind. Moving on to the last couple of questions, who are some of your the actors and actresses who've influenced you in your career path?
KC: I'd say that Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, and Gary oldman are my main influences.
TMW: Any future ambitions you'd like to share?
KC: To develop myself as an actor to the point I am unrecognizable, and get audiences more immersed in the story they're watching. I also want to produce and direct a few movies as well.
TMW: Sounds like a plan. Thank you very much for sitting down with The Mystery Workshop.
KC: You're welcome.
